Fatima, Coimbra, and back to Torreira

On exiting the unit Ed saw Stella. She and Tomas joined us for breakfast. Glad we got to ser them before we left. It is difficult saying goodbye.

Our boy turned 15 today!!!!!!
We left Fatima and headed for Coimbra. We wandered through a market where they had a cooking competition going on.  The chefs were very serious, skinning tiny sardines. Joaquim thought they were idiots. All you need is a bbq and some bread. Why overcomplicate perfection!
We began to weave in and out of streets looking at produce, people and cakes. It starts to rain a little so we decide to stop for lunch. Oh my god, we should have shared a meal between two.

Brina's meal.
My chanfama
Ed's meal
Mitchell had already devoured his chicken!
We tried to walk off a bit of lunch. We walked along the river them headed bacl towards the car.

Sabrina was amazed over the size of the meringues at this shop.

The small streets in the old city quarters are lined with little souvenir shops and coffee shops/restaurants.

We head for home.

  2. I now understand why when Paul came back that he wanted food 'portions' reduced significantly - no wonder! The meals are huge aren't they, however, it's good quality food not over processed junk so you can probably afford to eat a little more?? Maybe??? ;)

  3. Good quality but they eat a mile of meat. They should have higher deaths relating to heart disease. It must be the combining of each meal with wine. I wish wine was as cheap in the land of Oz. I am really enjoying Spanish wine from Rioja -another potential holiday destination.
