Monday in Barcelona

Today the family seperated. Ed and the kids went to  Camp Nou and toured the stadium. I headed up Passeig de Gracia and visited La Pedera and explored the surrounding area.

Camp Nou was pretty good, I would like to play a game of soccer on the field; however, out of bounds for the tourists. The trophy room was fantastic which was pretty coolio. My father took many photos it was unbelivable, aaaaarrrrggghhh! The stadium players change room had its own spa and equipped with its own church, but they were only for the players use. I blew all of my dads money on a jersey. I got the jacket pants and matching socks to go with it.

I visited another Gaudi building - Casa Mila, named after the lady who commissioned the refurbishment of the building. The visit starts at the roof top. I had to be brave as I was on my own. I slowly moved around the top and admired the fascinating roof area. I think the artists who designed the storm troopers from Star Wars visited this building. The chimney stacks remind me of their helmets.
From the roof you move into the attic area where there is an exhibition giving you insight into Gaudi and his design process. Ed would have loved seeing the mirrored model high lighting the reverse engineering principles.
You move to another floor and see an apartment furnished in pieces from the period simulating what it would have looked like.
I enjoyed a coffee after in the same building and admired the lovely surroundings and the rare opportunity to be on my own!
Met the family at El Corte Ingles for lunch. Great view, average food, interesting shopping.
Went to a Flamenco concert at the Alace of Music. The acustics were amazing. I really enjoy a strong male voice and love sanish guitar. The dancers were phenomenal! It did not matter about the language bartier as story and emotion were conveyed through music and movement. Wow!

  1. It is good to se Edward on the other side of the camera. Great post Mitch. You will have to bring it to Narrabeen for a game. Were you able to score a FIFA World Cup ball? Enjoy the average food. It could be worse. Enjoy yourselves, stay dry and happy
