We continued down Las Ramblas all the way Maragnum - part of the harbour. We are headed back down this area tomorrow so headed back to apartment to drop off supplies. Ed headed out to the airport to meet Ana. The kids and I hit the shops on Carrer de Pelai near Placa Catalunya. Mitchell needed shoes andbought some espadrils and of course princess Sabrina needed a new pair of shoes too!
Headed home to greet Ana. Caught up over lunch and relaxed a little. Eventually set off for Sagrada Familia. WOW! It is an amazing building, very moving. I was very emotional and can see why it is one of the most visited places on earth. We spent over three hours enjoying the basilica, tower and facades. I freaked out goong up the stairs and Ana and I caught the lift back down. Ed and the kids braved the stairs. Sagrada Familiar showcases Gaudi's genius. I am glad that the Spanish had the balls to keep working on this phenomenalbuilding.

The columns, the light, the stained glass, the hand hewn stone - it's such a wonderful experience of 'human talent' dedicated to the big guy upstairs. It's definatly one of the things I want to do before I die - see the Sagrada Familia completed!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're enjoying the shopping and tapas! Xx
Just shared a bottle of Verve with G and watched 'American Hustle' - we loved it! Thanks for the recommendation :) It was a perfect celebration night as she's had an amazing semester that had to be celebrated, even if it was just the 2 of us! Xx
ReplyDeleteAmerican Hustle was a good film. Verve sounds good. We just had a beer - it is very warm here. Celebrations all round.
